Hilo Carriel was born in Itacoatiara, in the interior of Amazonas, in 1991. He has a master's degree in Conducting Performance from the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University and a bachelor's degree in Music - Conducting from the Escola Superior de Artes e Turismo - Universidade do Estado do Amazonas.
He occupies chair number 19 at the Academia Amazonense de Música, being its youngest member. He achieved national prominence by winning the 2019 Concerto Award in the Young Talent category and international recognition by being selected by maestro Gustavo Dudamel for the prestigious and select Dudamel Fellowship with the Los Angeles Philharmonic in the 2019-2020 season.
